The Importance of Families Part 1
By Robin Nobles
Too often, we speed through our lives at lightning speed, never slowing down
except to pass “GO” and collect $200. One day, we wake up and realize our
children are growing up, our hair is getting gray, and our parents were right
about more things than we care to admit.
When did it happen? When did our first little boy quit playing with lawn
mowers and tractors? When did our second little boy out grow his Glow Bug,
“Bobby”? When did our precious little redheaded girl lose her pink blanket and
quit sucking her thumb? When did they lose their innocence?
Life is so different now. Now, I lay awake at night worrying until they’ve
made it home okay. That may be silly, but I’m a mother. I guess my destiny is to
worry about them for the rest of my life.
I guess that’s my parent’s destiny too, and every parent’s destiny. Life is
so precious, and so very fragile. We never realize how fragile until we lose it.
Think back to when you were a child, to the many wonderful things your
parents did for you to the many things they sacrificed so that you could go to
college, drive a certain car, buy a special dress.

week being thankful for your family. And if you have time, drop by the All
